Slatwall Panels
Slatwall panels are the bestselling shop fitting supply in the UK. With a range of accesories and fittings they are ideal for constantly changing product displays.
Slatwall is manufactured from 2440mm x 1240mm MDF boards. It is routered 20mm to each side to create a perfectly undamaged straight edge leaving the slatwall panel measuring 2400mm x 1200mm or 8ft x 4ft in old money. The slatwall grooves are then routered in, usually at 100mm centres but this can be altered depending on the purpose.
The MDF slatwall panels can be melamine-faced with an attractive colour or woodgrain effect. This can be added to one face (front) or both sides if the panel wil be visible from all angles.
To complement the melamine finish there are a wide range of PVC inserts available which clip in to the groove once it has been fitted to the wall, covering the fixing screws and giving the panel a finished look. Aluminium inserts are sometimes used instead of PVC. These offer an attractive look as well as offer a better load-bearing ability as the weight it carried across the entire length of the groove. Aluminium inserts usually slot in from the side of the slatwall panel although clip-in aluminium inserts are becoming more and more popular.
High impact edging is sometimes used on the edge of the panels to completey hide the MDF. This is available in a wide ange of colours to either match or contrast the finish of the slatwall panel.
Slatwall can be fixed directly to a shop wall or sometimes the wall is batoned first and then the slatwall panels fixed using screws and rawl plugs. The screws are screwed through the slatwall groove and then the head is hidden by the inserts.
